MILAN - A thrilling Serie A Week 33 encounter at the Giuseppe Meazza was decided by Adriano's majestic free kick in the 62nd minute. The 1-0 victory puts the Nerazzurri back in the fourth-spot driving seat as Lazio were beaten 2-1 away to Brescia.

Six minutes after coming on for an impressive Mohamed Kallon, Adriano took the ball past two former teammates before being fouled by Bonera. The Brazilian's low drive from twenty metres flew in at the near post, giving Sebastien Frey no chance of making a save.

Victory away to Empoli next weekend will secure Inter a place in the 2004/05 Champions League qualiying round.
