European top clubs want Mahdavikia

He is HSV's hottest property and his contract expires at the end of this season. That means that the Iranian international striker Mehdi Mahdavikia could leave the club on a free transfer. Several clubs from all over Europe are interested in the wing-wizard, including some from the English Premier League and the Italian giants AS Roma.

So what are his plans for the future? Mahdavikia gave an interview to a German football website this week in which he said that he feels at home in the Bundesliga.

"The player's agent Reza Fazeli claims that the future of Mahdavikia at HSV does not depend on money. He could earn much more abroad: "Before Mehdi joined Bochum, he turned down a deal in China which would have netted him 3,5 million dollars," said Fazeli. Mehdi wants to develop on a sporting level. We plan to hold talks with the club during the first week in February 2004," revealed the agent. Mahdavikia who was recently voted "Asia's footballer of the year" said: "I feel at home in the Bundesliga." Hope for HSV that he'll stay?"
