Slavia 3 - 0 Brno

Patrik Gedeon and Jiri Rychlik in the squad
It was difficult to believe the team was the same as the one which was eliminated on Thursday in Georgia from the UEFA Cup. Slavia with midfielder Patrik Gedeon and new defender Jiri Rychlik in the starting line-up outplayed Brno who were undefeated up to now, scored three spectacular goals and could have added more.

Adauto and Pavel Kuka hit the crossbar
The active play, quick and precise passing brought a lot of chances for Slavia. "We knew that the performance from Tbilisi must not be repeated, we need to pass the ball, keep running and prove we are capable of playing much better soccer," said Patrik Gedeon about the motivation before the match. The first great chances came after the shots of Lukas Dosek, Martin Latka and Patrik Gedeon. But former Slavia goalkeeper Michal Vaclavik provided very good saves and in the sixteenth minute when Adauto´s header flew behind him, he was saved by the crossbar. Subsequently Pavel Kuka sent the ball to the woodwork for the second time.

The opening goal from the best man of the match
"If I hadn´t scored the first goal, somebody else would have done it," said Patrik Gedeon whose long-distance shot ended in the net in the thirtieth minute. Patrik Gedeon turned out to be a key Slavia man, together with Michal Svec they dominated in the midfield and this led to many more chances.

Martin Latka adds the second strike
As in the match against Liberec, Martin Latka ran to the corner cross this time from Adauto, and this time to the closer post. His header directed the ball to the net for the second time. Brno did not give up and came to the second half with the aim to come back to the match. It was Lumir Sedlacek who denied their efforts twice standing on the goal line as the last man when Jan Trousil´s header almost went in.

Disallowed goal and third strike
Martin Latka was the next one to sent the ball into the Vaclavik´s net. After the free kick of Lumir Sedlacek whose shot bounced off the cross-bar for the third time in the match. But the referees disallowed the goal due to off-side position. But the third goal was to come anyway - Pavel Fort a few minutes after his substitution sent the similar shot to the opening goal. Slavia won the important match and moved up in the table. Hopefully this is a starting point from the bottom, coach Csaplar spoke about after the UEFA Cup failure in Tbilisi.
