Gurpegi pledges Bilbao future
Midfield player Carlos Gurpegi has signed a three-year contract extension at Athletic Club Bilbao to keep him at the club until June 2008.
Buy-out clause boost
The 23-year-old has been a first-team regular at the San Mames stadium for two seasons. He scored once in 30 appearances last campaign to help his side secure a place in next season's UEFA Cup competition. Athletic have also boosted the promising youngster's buy-out clause to €25m as part of the new deal.
