Mehdi and Stefan fit for Gladbach

Coach Klaus Toppmöller breathed a huge sigh of relief yesterday as both goalkeeper Stefan Wächter and Mehdi Mahdavikia reported back fit to yesterday's training session. Wächter suffered concussion during last Saturday's 2-0 home win over Hertha, in round 25 of the Bundeliga. The 25 year old keeper will face Borussia Mönchengladbach away on Saturday. On Monday, it had looked very unlikely that Wächter would make the crucial clash against Gladbach. He had been plagued by severe headache: "It felt as if I'd been on a two day drinking binge," admitted Wächter.

HSV's number one crowd favourite and Iranian whirlwind Mehdi Mahdavikia, has recovered from his bruised knee and was seen weaving his magic again in training yesterday. Mahdavikia, who was described as being "disappointing at the moment" by Coach Toppmöller, is expected to be fit in time for the crucial Bundesliga match in Gladbach at the weekend. Because of Mahdavikia's poor away form, Toppmöller hinted this week that it is possible that the club's latest signing Slawi Hleb (who recently joined HSV from Stuttgart), could start a HSV match for the first time in Gladbach...instead of Mahdavikia.
