Cannavaro to miss UEFA CUP second-leg against Benfica
FC Internazionale defender Fabio Cannavaro is likely to miss his side's UEFA Cup fourth round second-leg tie against SL Benfica on 25 March after suffering a left thigh injury during the 0-0 draw against AC Chievo Verona last Sunday.
The Italy captain underwent a scan on Tuesday evening which confirmed the injury. The Milan-based club have not confirmed yet how long the 30-year-old player will be sidelined but he is likely to need a few days of rehabilitation.
Cannavaro is expected to miss the Serie A game against Ancona Calcio on Sunday and the match against the Portuguese side at the San Siro stadium a week tomorrow. The Nerazzurri, who won the UEFA Cup in 1991, 1994 and 1998, drew 0-0 in the first leg in Lisbon.
