Strand setback rocks Rosenborg
Rosenborg BK midfield player Roar Strand has been ruled out of both legs of his club's UEFA Cup third-round tie against SL Benfica.
The 34-year-old suffered the recurrence of a knee ligament injury at Rosenborg's Spanish training camp in La Manga yesterday and has been sidelined for a month. Strand said: "I have struggled with this injury for some time, but this time it felt more serious. It couldn't have come at a worse time."
Rosenborg will travel to Portugal for the first leg against Benfica on 26 February, with the return following a week later in Norway. Before the team leave Spain, they will play FC Dynamo Kyiv in a friendly this Saturday.
