Milan on the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup

Milan beat Sampdoria 1-0 (2-0 on aggregate), breaking the deadlock in the 13th minute at the San Siro when Filippo Inzaghi scuffed a Kakha Kaladze cross across the line, making his 50th goal for AC Milan. Sampdoria pressed forward in the second half, but repeatedly ran into a wall of red-and-black shirts, coming closest to scoring a minute from the end when reserve goalkeeper Valerio Fiori palmed Corrado Colombo's header round the post.

Milan will face Juventus in the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup.
