Penarol climbed up to third on the table after accounting for Paysandu FC 3-1 away from home at the Estadio General Artigas in the city of Paysandu.

Former Boca Juniors and River Plate star Gabriel Cedres put Penarol ahead in the 21st minute after slotting home from the penalty spot. Just three minutes later Alberto Acosta, who scored twice against Fenix mid-week doubled Penarol’s lead with a superb strike. In the 73rd minute Penarol was awarded a penalty and Gabriel Cedres converted his second spot-kick of the afternoon to give an improving Penarol side a three goal lead. Penarol’s Colombian defender Felix Garcia shot into his own goal with just five minutes remaining in the second half to give Paysandu a consolation goal.
