The Wolves draw again

VfL Wolfsburg followed up their 1-1 draw with HSV last Sunday with a 2-2 draw against the Swiss league champions Basel on Thursday (13.1.05), at the club’s training camp in La Manga, Spain. The Wolves will play their final preparation game before the Bundesliga round 18 match at home to Borussia Dortmund on January 22nd against the Dutch side FC Groningen, on January 17th (kick off 8.15 pm) in the VOLKSWAGEN ARENA. The match will be shown live on the DSF TV channel.

Key trio out
The Wolves coach Erik Gerets was without his Argentinean duo of Andres D´Alessandro and Diego Klimowicz, as well as his first choice goalkeeper and Simon Jentzsch. A crowd of around 200 saw Patrick Weiser set up Marko Topic for the first Wolfsburg goal after 33 minutes, the Bundesliga side’s second goal was scored by Thomas Rytter, who headed in after 63 minutes. The Basel goals were scored by Patrick Müller (59.) and David Degen (61.).

Good first half performance
"I was happy with the first half performance. We changed our tactics fort he second half, and I must admit we were asleep as they scored their goals. What pleased me however was how the side came back after going 1-2 down,” said the Wolves coach Erik Gerets.

The Wolves line-up: Lenz - Quiroga (46. Franz), Hofland (81. Biliskov), Schnoor (46. Sarpei), Rytter (65. Fischer) - Hrgovic (11. Weiser), Thiam, Karhan - Topic (46. Petrov), Maric (46. Brdaric), Menseguez (76. Präger).
