Fenerbahçe carries on from where it left off as we beat Çaykur Rizespor 2-0 in the first game of the second half of the league. Alex de Souza scored the first goal with a penalty, followed by Servet Çetin`s header in the 59th minute in typical Fenerbahçe style.
Christoph Daum played the same starting 11 as he did for the Turkish Cup game against Ankaragücü last weekend. Fabio Luciano played in the centre of the defence despite missing a lot of the week`s training sessions as he was in Brazil. Önder Turacı played a steady game at right back as did Ümit Özat on the left. Servet topped his good game with a goal in a set-piece.

Serhat Akın was showing a higher performance than before, getting involved and keeping possession more in comparison to the first half of the league. His cross was deflected high for Alex, who attempted an overhead kick but couldn`t get a result in the 8th minute. It was Serhat`s burst into the box that led to a penalty in the 18th minute, took by Alex and scored him despite a hand from Zdravo Zdravkov.

Ten minutes into the second half our lead was doubled which also made our proceeding performance a lot more enjoyable. Alex`s ball into the box from the right wing was met by Servet who made no mistake, 2-0.

Our tempo was on the rise from here also thanks to fresh blood through Serkan Balcı.

Marcio Nobre was very close to adding a goal to his energetic contribution, after rounding Zdravkov and having an empty goal to score in, but a narrowing angle made his shot less accurate as it went over the bar.

Rüştü`s good save got himself noticed in the game and his opposite number Zdravkov kept it at 2-0 by saving a good Alex free-kick.
