The VfL climbes to rank two after a 3-0 won against Schalke 04 on saturday. In a fast and enthralling first half, Marian Hristow scored two times (30, 40). Both goals were assisted by the brilliant Andres D'Alessandro. Diego Klimowicz scored to the result of 3-0 in the last minute. It was the first goal for the goalgetter from Argentinia in season. With the success the wolves climbed to rank 2. Schalke is only on rank 15 with 3 defeats in 4 games.

Good football

Eric Gerets changed his team on two positions. Hristow and Olympic champion D'Alessandro played instead of Hans Sarpei and Stefan Schnoor in the starting eleven. The wolves started slowly and back out in own half. Schalke tried to score an early goal with fast game over the outsides. The wake-up call came from Miroslav Karhan who shot at the crossbar after ten minutes. Due to a jutting D’Alessandro, Wolfsburg got a preponderance after 20 minutes.

A brilliant D'Alessandro

The Olympic champion was the key player in game. Klimowicz was one second too late after a phantasmagoric pass from Andres (27.) Only three minutes later Frank Rost took center stage. After a corner from D'Alessandro, Rost didn´t catch the ball and Hristow scored effortless to 1-0 (30.). It was his first goal in season.
A heavy shower set the ground under water. So both goalkeepers got problems to control the ball. After 40 minutes Hristow scored again. D'Alessandro passed to Brdaric, who shot the post with a header and Hristow stood at the right position.

Confident wolves

After the change the game-quality decreased. Schalke tried to score but they only had chances with free-kicks. The best chance had Marcelo Bordon but his free-kick only hit the post (65.). The third goal was a solo run from Klimowicz after a pass from Thiam (90.).
