VfB Stuttgart 2 - 0 HSV
The HSV lost on the 4th Bundesliga match-day 2-0 against Stuttgart. In front of 44.000 viewers Silvio Meißner scored after a free-kick of Aliaksandr Hleb to 1-0 (16.). After the change Hamburg tried to fight back in game but Imre Szabics scored after a pass of Kevin Kuranyi to 2-0 (90.). With the fin Stuttgart climbs to the top of table, Hamburg is on rank 14 for the time being. Two new players were in starting eleven. Almami Moreira in central and Khalid Boulahrouz with a special task. He should watch over key player Aliaksandr Hleb .A big responsibility for the both newcomer. Also Toppmöller changed from four-man defense to three-man defense because of injury-misery. Not only the strikers Benjamin Lauth and Bernardo Romeo missed also Collin Benjamin and Raphael Wicky in defense. At the end Hamburg lost unfortunatly even though they were close to equalise.
Two big chances for HSV
The first chance to score had the HSV. Emile Mpenza shot missed curtly. Stuttgart became better and scored to 1-0 (16.). Meissner scored with a header after a free-kick by Hleb. Until the break Hamburg didn´t recover from the handycap.
After the change Hamburg made more pressure. Mpenza was near the goal but he shot against the post. Also Rahn missed with a free-kick. So the HSV had to go away empty-handed. Although there were possibilities to do better.
