Académica 0-1 Benfica

Simão Sabrosa scored the only goal of the game as SL Benfica won away to A. Académica de Coimbra on Sunday to prolong their perfect start to the season.

Simão hits post
Benfica were not at their best, but were rarely troubled by Académica, who were fortunate not to fall behind on 56 minutes. Danilo, the Académica goalkeeper, brought Simão down in the area, but the Benfica captain struck the left post with his penalty.

Second-half winner
On 73 minutes, however, Simão made up for that mistake when he collected a rebound off João Pereira's shot and beat Danilo with a powerful drive to make it three wins from three for Giovanni Trapattoni's side.
