Inter beaten away to Lecce (Lecce 2 - Inter 1)
LECCE - The Nerazzurri's fourth spot aspirations took a dent at the Via del Mare on Sunday afternoon as Lecce won the Week 32 clash 2-1 to guarantee themselves Serie A football next season. With Parma victorious at home to Ancona and Lazio held to a draw by Reggina, Inter slip to sixth place in the standings with two matches of the championship to go.
Lecce dominated the early stages of a tempestuous match, with Ernesto Javier Chevanton is particularly fine form. Twice denied by the offside flag, the Uruguayan striker rattled the crossbar in the 13th minute with a curled free kick.
Limited to counter-attacks, Inter came back and Adriano took the wind out of Lecce 's sails with a perfectly-executed penalty in the 36th minute after being brought down in the box by Konan.
The home side mustered a reaction and equalised two minutes into the second period when captain Tonetto somehow managed to find the net after Chevanton took on Cordoba then played into the six-yard box. Delio Rossi's men took the lead on 70 minutes when Bovo smashed home from a yard out after Toldo had failed to hold on to a left-wing corner kick.
