FC Volendam 0 - 5 PSV
Away at FC Volendam, Mateja Kezman has scored his hundredth league goal in his fourth season in the service of the Eindhoven club. André Ooijer opened the scoring with a glancing header and second-half doubles by John de Jong and Mateja Kezman made sure of an emphatic 0-5 win.
After an hour’s play Kezman was put clean by captain Van Bommel and face to face with Verhoeven, the keeper of the hosts, his finish was exemplary. He took his season’s tally to 26 and his record goal meant PSV were 0-4 on top. At the death he was set up by winger Dennis Rommedahl and from close range he tapped home the easiest of goals. In the first half Kezman was already given a unique opportunity to score his record goal. After keeper Verhoeven had slightly touched Van Bommel in the penalty area, Kezman could not convert the spot kick. He poorly fired straight at Verhoeven, who blocked his effort with a foot. PSV took the lead on 12 minutes. ©. The ball was cleared by Misha Salden, but the assistant linesman had seen that the ball had crossed the line and the goal stood; 0-1. After Kezman had failed to convert the penalty, there was a period in which FC Volendam created some good chances, but the hosts never ever really threatened.
After the break PSV rapidly set things right. On 50 minutes John de Jong headed home a Rommedahl free kick. His header came back from the inside of the post on his body and then the ball ricocheted into the goal. Seven minutes Volendam were dispossessed in midfield. John de Jong was put clear and while being brought down, he somehow managed to lob the ball over the keeper; 0-3. Then came the moment of glory for Kezman and his 100th and 101st league goals made it 0-5.
