Dutch squad for UEFA EURO 2004

The coach has stuck to his most reliable performers for the trip to Portugal, saying: "This group does not contain any surprises and is a combination of experience, youth, insight and mentality. I am in the lucky position that the players who I have to choose from are all fit."

Robben recovering
Arjen Robben is not yet in peak condition after sustaining a hamstring injury but has been selected none the less. He is one of nine players who have received their first call-up for a major finals tournament, the other debutants being Ronald Waterreus, Wilfred Bouma, Johnny Heitinga, Mark van Bommel, Wesley Sneijder, Rafael van der Vaart, Andy van der Meyde and Ruud van Nistelrooij.

Stand-by list
Advocaat has also placed four players on a stand-by list in the event that any of his first choice 23 are unable to travel to Portugal. These players are Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink and Mario Melchiot of Chelsea FC, Manchester City FC's Paul Bosvelt and André Ooijer of PSV Eindhoven.
