Bologna 0-2 AC Milan

A goal from Andriy Shevchenko helped AC Milan on their way to a 2-0 win against Bologna FC on Sunday as they opened up a five-point gap at the top of Serie A.

AS Roma's surprise loss at the hands of Brescia Calcio on Saturday handed Milan the chance to forge clear and Shevchenko broke the deadlock by springing the Bologna offside trap on 19 minutes to nod in his 16th league goal of the season. Milan survived two penalty appeals from the home side before Kaka hit the post at the other end and John Dahl Tomasson sealed the European champions' victory a minute from time with a delicate lob over Gianluca Pagliuca.

BOLOGNA: Pagliuca; Zanchi, Natali, Moretti; Nervo (Bellucci, 47'), Nakata, Loviso (Meghni, 67'), Pecchia, Sussi (Terzi, 67'); Locatelli; Tare.

MILAN: Dida; Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Pancaro; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf (Redondo, 77'); Rui Costa (Serginho, 62'), Kakà; Shevchenko (Tomasson, 83').

GOALS: 0-1 Shevchenko, 19'; 0-2 Tomasson, 89'
