The team under Klaus Augenthaler are still waiting for an opening goal, because an own goal by Mahdouni cancelled out the opening Bayer goal on 49 minutes scored by their Brazilian international defender Juan. Leverkusen skipper Carsten Ramelow was sent off for dissent 7 minutes from time.
