Ajax 0 - 4 PSV

Ajax crashed to their biggest defeat ever against an experienced PSV side in the Amsterdam ArenA on Sunday afternoon. PSV, who have frequently been successful in the Arena, strolled to an emphatic 0-4 win over Ajax.

Mark van Bommel was the star of the afternoon. The PSV captain netted as many as three goals, one of which was from the spot.

PSV controlled the game completely and dominated proceedings in midfield. Ajax were professionally kept at bay, while the Eindhoven side patiently waited for their own chances. PSV were on top after some thirty minutes, when André Ooijer delivered the perfect cross for Phillip Cocu to superbly head home; 0-1. Then Mark van Bommel got his name on the score sheet. In first half injury time he coolly slotted home, after he had been found by Vennegoor of Hesselink. Van Bommel scored a double in the second period. First he clinically converted a penalty. And then Jefferson Farfán turned provider for the third Van Bommel goal.

Goals: 24' Cocu; 45´, 54´, 59´ Van Bommel
