But with Luião and Miguel both returning to the side after lay-offs, Giovanni Trapattoni's team took a while to find their stride. But after Simão Sabrosa's penalty had broken the deadlock six minutes before half-time, there was only going to be one winner. Nuno Gomes scored twice midway through the second period before Pedro Mantorras made it 4-0.
