SL Benfica opened a three-point lead at the top of the SuperLiga after beating Vitória FC 4-0 at the Estádio da Luz on Sunday. Azar Karadas opened the scoring with a 31st-minute header and Tomislav Šokota doubled the lead five minutes after the restart. Geovanni added the third on 71 minutes before Simão Sabrosa completed the scoring late on.
Nuno Gomes injury
Benfica's victory was marred by injury to striker Nuno Gomes, who was substituted in the 22nd minute after spraining his knee. Further tests will determine how long he will be out of action.
