Anderlecht 5 - 2 Cercle Brugge

Hugo Broos was obliged to make some changes to the team that lost 1-3 to Inter Milan last Wednesday. Jestrovic, who sustained a broken arm, isn't available for at least four weeks. Mpenza took his place in the attack, Lovre played as right-winger. In the defence De Boeck took his place after months of absence to the detriment of Lamine Traore.

Anderlecht had difficulties with Cercle Bruges in the first minutes of the game. Already in the 7th minute Sporting fell behind 0-1 as De Smet scored. Anderlecht went looking for the equalizer and got what they wanted about ten minutes later, Wilhelmsson shot the 1-1 past Begeyn. Five minutes later Sporting fell behind once more as Roiha intercepted a bad backward pass of Vanden Borre: 1-2. Once again Sporting had to go and look for the equalizer. Two faults - on Wilhelmsson and Mpenza - gave Anderlecht two penalties in five minutes and got Cercle-defender Svetlicic excluded. Zetterberg didn't miss: 3-2.

In the beginning of the second half Junior replaced the unfortunate Vanden Borre. Although Anderlecht had a player more on the field now the supporters had to wait to cheer until the 70th minute when Goran Lovre scored 4-2. A few minutes before the end of the match Iachtchouk put the 5-2 final score on the board.
