HSV go down 1-2 in Mainz

HSV is still in search of a win in the new Bundesliga season, as Klaus Toppmöller's side went down 2-1 at newly-promoted Mainz on Saturday afternoon. A debut goal by the new HSV skipper Daniel van Buyten was no where near enough to beat the Bundesliga minnows, in front of a passionate capacity crowd in the Stadion am Bruchweg in Mainz. Klaus Toppmöller made two changes to his starting line-up which lost 0-2 at home to Bayern Munich the week before. For the injured Benjamin and Romeo, he chose Beinlich and Mahdavikia.

Mainz : Wache - Nikolic, M. Friedrich, Bodog, Rose - F. Gerber, Babatz, Kramny - N. Weiland, Weber, Dworrak

HSV: Pieckenhagen - Wicky, van Buyten, B. Reinhardt, Kling - Jarolim, Beinlich, Rahn - Mahdavikia, Barbarez, Mpenza

Goals: 0:1 van Buyten (28.), 1:1 da Silva (51.), 2:1 da Silva (53.)
