Trapattoni: I’m Here To Win



New Benfica coach Giovanni Trapattoni has been officially unveiled by the club.
"I’m here to win," he said. "This team has everything that is needed to aim for the League championship.

"I never thought that I would one day be in charge of the side that I faced 41 years ago in the European Cup Final.

"I’m aware that Porto and Sporting Lisbon will provide us with stiff opposition but we are not inferior."

He added: "I’ve asked for three players. The club will do their best to get them."



Benfica preparation for 2004/05 season started yesterday already with six new faces: Yannick (french goalkeeper), Amoreirinha (defender, portuguese under 21) , Bruno Aguiar (midfielder, portuguese under 21), Carlitos (attacker midfielder, portuguese under 21), Alcides (defender, brasilian under 21) and Paulo Almeida (defender midfielder, brasilian international).

The players that participate in the EURO 2004, namely Tiago, Moreira, Nuno Gomes, Miguel, Simão, Petit, Fyssas and Sokota, will only join the team later on. The same with Luisão, that is currenty playinf for Brasil in the Copa America.
