Fenerbahçe sign Murat

Turkish champions Fenerbahçe SK are to sign Diyarbakirspor's international forward Murat Hacioglu on a one-year contract with an option for a further two years.

Contract pending
The club revealed the transfer on their official website, and said in a statement that the contract between the two parties involved would be signed once the player returns from a training camp with the national side.

International debut
The 25-year-old former Sekerspor and Bursaspor forward moved to Diyarbakirspor in summer 2002. Murat scored nine goals in his first season and in 2003/04 he found the net 13 times. He made his international debut in a 2-2 draw with Croatia in March and has now won four caps.

Expected departure
Murat's departure did not surprise Diyarbakirspor's new coach Ümit Kayihan. "His contract was expiring and he had received offers from three big clubs during the season. We made him an offer within our budget and naturally for career and money he opted for Fenerbahçe. I think he will be successful at Fenerbahçe with the football he will play and with his ambition. All that remains for us is to be proud of his success at his new club."
