Baris heads to Fenerbahçe

Fenerbahçe SK have further strengthened their squad ahead of next season's UEFA Champions League campaign by signing Turkish international defender Deniz Baris from Gençlerbirligi SK.

Three-year contract
The 26-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Istanbul side. He therefore follows in the footsteps of Serkan Balci, who also recently moved from the Ankara side to Fenerbahçe.

First cap
The Erzincan-born Baris joined Gençlerbirligi from German club FC St. Pauli in summer 2002. He won his first cap for Turkey in February 2003 in a friendly against Ukraine and has since gone on to establish himself in the squad.

Önder arrival
Baris is the second defender to join Fenerbahçe in the last few days, after the arrival of Önder Turaci from R. Standard de Liège on Saturday. Fenerbahçe begin next season's Champions League in the group stage.
