Romania international Dorinel Munteanu celebrated a memorable victory in his first game as player-coach of CFR Cluj as the Romanian side defeated Athletic Club Bilbao 1-0 in the first leg of their second round UEFA Intertoto Cup tie with the Primera División side on Saturday.

The 37-year-old played the full 90 minutes as Cluj claimed victory thanks to Cosmin Tilinca’s 36th-minute header. Athletic, fielding an understrength side, had the chance to pull level from the penalty spot, but Cluj goalkeeper Petru Turcas saved Javi González’s spot-kick.
