Urzaiz commits to Athletic
Former Spanish international Ismael Urzaiz has signed a two-year contract extension with Athletic Club Bilbao which will see the striker end his career with the Basque club in June 2007.
Seasoned campaigner
The 33-year-old has been a stalwart in Athletic's attack since his arrival from RCD Espanyol in 1996 and has scored eleven league goals this season. He has made 353 appearances in total for the San Mamés side, registering 117 goals. Urzaiz has also won 25 Spain caps, scoring nine times.
Press conference
Urzaiz becomes the fourth player to agree new terms with UEFA Cup-chasing Athletic this year following the contract renewals of Javi González, Ander Murillo and Luis Prieto. The striker and club chairman Fernando Lamikiz will give a press conference detailing the agreement on Friday. Athletic are currently ninth in the Primera División.
