HSV signs Piotr Trochowski!
HSV has signed the talented Bayern Munich striker Piotr Trochowski after all. The German under-21 player has agreed to a deal which will keep him at the AOL Arena until 2009. Trochowski will take part in his first training session with his new club today, before flying with the HSV squad to La Manga in Spain.
Time was running out
"After we heard that Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart had failed to reach an agreement, we had to move quickly. I am delighted that we were able to sign him in the end and am sure that HSV can look forward to watching him play in a HSV shirt," said an obviously delighted HSV sport director Didi Beiersdorfer.
Home again
Only two days ago it was reported that Trochowski had signed for Stuttgart, after having held talks with the HSV coach Thomas Doll. The Hamburg-born player is relieved that a decision has finally been made: "I am glad that everything has now been settled. Initially, I decided to go for the short term prospect of playing international football. Now all that counts for me is HSV. My goal now is to play international football with HSV as soon as possible," said the youngster after signing for HSV.
Dolly delight
Coach Thomas Doll is also delighted with the move: "It's brilliant that the deal happened after all. I'm looking forward to working with such a talented player," said Dolly. Both clubs declined to give details of the money side of the deal.
