FC Sochaux 1 - 2 PSG
Two first-half Pauleta goals helped Paris Saint-Germain FC record only their second away win of the Ligue 1 season, a crucial 2-1 victory over FC Sochaux-Montbéliard on Sunday night.
Pauleta goals
PSG needed a quick response to their elimination from the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday and Pauleta set them on their way when he controlled a Lorik Cana pass with his chest before unleashing a spectacular volley that flew past Sochaux goalkeeper Teddy Richert in the 24th minute. The Portuguese forward was on hand again three minutes before half-time, heading in his eighth goal of the season to the delight of coach Vahid Halilhodzic, seated in the stands as he began his two-month touchline ban.
Penalty miss
A second-half fightback from Sochaux meant PSG were made to work hard for this first win in five league outings, with Ilan striking a penalty against the post and Santos blasting the rebound over the crossbar with the goal at his mercy. The Tunisian striker made up for this miss on 75 minutes, though, heading past Letizi to set up an exciting finish. The capital club held on to move up into eleventh place, while Sochaux drop down to seventh.
