With Frank de Boer and Stam going older on the Dutch national team a new star is arrising to replace them in the center of the dutch defence. The name is Boulahrouz, signed by Hamburg to the modest dutch club RKC, where he made his debut as a professional player. The interest in Boulahrouz began in November 2003, as HSV increased its scouting activities in Holland and saw a world class defender playing in the dutch league. The English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur also wanted to sign Boulahrouz but HSV reacted quickly and secured the services of one of Europe’s finest young defenders at a bargain price (1,5 million Euro).
Since he arrived in the north german city Boulahrouz become the natural substitute of the czech star Tomas Ujfalusi, that depparted to Florence and he already made 10 Bundesliga games as a starting player, making an excellent duo with the belgium international Van Buyten. Van Basten wasn´t sleeping either and called the player to the Dutch Team immediatly. Boulahrouz Khalid made his debut for the Orange Team in a friendly match agains Liechtenstein on 9th september 2004 and after it he already played two more international matches in the road to the German World Cup (agains Czech Republic and agains Macedonia).
With only 23 years old Boulahrouz Khalid is for sure a player to watch out for.
