V. Guimarães 1 - 2 Benfica

SL Benfica needed a late winner from Geovanni to cement their place at the top of the Portuguese SuperLiga.

Emotional night
The Brazilian scored with a 30 metre free-kick in the last minute of the 2-1 victory at Vitória SC. It was an emotional night at the Estádio Afonso D. Henriques as it was Benfica's first visit to Guimarães since 25 January, when their forward Miklós Fehér suffered a heart attack on the pitch and later died in hospital.

Simão opener
Vitória found themselves down to ten men in the first half when Marco Ferreira was sent off. Visiting captain Simão Sabrosa opened the scoring with a 67th-minute free-kick only for Júlio Moreno to equalise with a penalty. Geovanni then popped up to settle the contest, maintaining Benfica's four-point advantage over FC Porto.
