Schürrer sure about Olympiacos
Argentinian defender Gabriel Schürrer has joined Olympiacos CFP on a free transfer from Real Sociedad de Fútbol. The 32-year-old has signed a one-year contract with the option of a second term with the Greek league runners-up.
'Delighted'
"I am delighted to be in Greece and to have signed for Greece's greatest club," he said. "My first impressions are excellent and my goal is to help my new team achieve further success in Greece and also in the [UEFA] Champions League."
European foe
The veteran is no stranger to his new team-mates, whom he faced in last season's Champions League, helping Real Sociedad keep a clean sheet at the Anoeta in a 1-0 victory in September, before scoring in a 2-2 draw in Greece two months later.
Sociedad regular
Schürrer was a regular at Real Sociedad, his fourth Spanish club after leaving CA Lanús for Real Racing Club Santander in 1996. He also won the Primera División with RC Deportivo La Coruña in 1999/00 and enjoyed two seasons at UD Las Palmas, before joining 'la Real' in 2002.
Major signings
The centre-back becomes Olympiacos's second major summer signing following the arrival of Brazilian playmaker Rivaldo. He will join up with the squad at their pre-season training camp in Austria on Tuesday.
