Ticket falsification scandal in La Bombonera

Boca Juniors board is being investigated for a ticket falsification scandal. In the last weekend superclasico between Boca Juniors and River Plate, hundreds of fans, with tickets bought in the Boca ticket offices, were not allowed to enter La Bombonera, as the capacity of the stadium had already been exceeded.

The secretary of the club, Luis Buzio, was taken into custody by the authorities, for questioning (later to be realeased), suspected of leading the falsification scheme. Five Boca Juniors fans and three employees are still in custody.

The president of the club, Mauricio Macri, later admited that at least three tousand tickets were falsified, but had no doubts to state that "the general secretary has nothing to do with the scandal".

The Comitte for Security of the province of Buenos Aires is analysing the police investigations, in order to issue a punishment to the club, that might involve the interdiction of La Bombonera for the rest of the season, for domestic and international venues.

Meanwhile, the board of Boca Juniors has announced that, if the club is not allowed to play the home matches in La Bombonera, they will withdraw for the Copa Libertadores. They stated hat "if our home is interdicted for the next matches, our decision to leave the Libertadores will be irreversible".

The team is currently in Brazil, where they will face São Caetano for the first leg of the quarter-finals of The Copa Libertadores.
