Fenerbahçe 2-1 Galatasaray

A dominant Fenerbahçe SK went top of the Turkish Superleague after beating arch-rivals Galatasaray SK 2-1 in Sunday’s much-anticipated Istanbul derby at the Sükrü Saraçoglu stadium. Christoph Daum’s side outplayed their opponents for much of a competitive game and have now taken the initiative in the title race.

Fenerbahçe’s prolific Brazilian striker, Marcio Nobre, scored the opener after 18 minutes but ten minutes later Galatasaray levelled through defender Ömer Erdogan’s header. Former Galatasaray forward Mehmet Yozgatli then scored the winner five minutes from time after latching on to substitute Serhiy Rebrov’s pass. Galatasaray were not helped by the dismissal of midfield player Volkan Arslan.
Besiktas fell to 2nd place on goal difference after losing to Ýstanbulspor by the same score.
