HSV crush Grasshoppers!

HSV beat the Swiss side Grasshoppers Zürich 4:2 (3:0) in the Spanish resort of Oliva Nova yesterday. HSV goals scored by Naohiro Takahara (2.), Björn Schlicke (33.), Mehdi Mahdavikia (45.) and Alexander Meier (80.). Zurich replied late in the match through goals by Richard Nunez (82.) and Manuel Bühler (85.).

After the match the HSV coach Klaus Toppmöller was happy with the way his side had played, especially in the first half: „I’m very happy with the performance in the first half. I'd like to see more of the same against Hanover when the Bundesliga re-starts. Our pressing and the way we used the space were good points," said Toppmöller. The biggest smile was understandably on the face of the veteran Bernd "Holler" Hollerbach, who played his first game after an age on the sidelines due to injury: "We played really well in the first half. On a personal note, I'm delighted that I was able to play pain free after my long absence," beamed Holler

The HSV line-up:

Wächter (60. Starke) - Wicky (60. Fukal), Schlicke, Reinhardt (75. Bröcker), Hollerbach (46. Kling) - Mahdavikia (60. Jacobsen) , Maltritz, Jarolim (60. Meier), Beinlich (46. Rahn) - Takahara (46. Romeo), Barbarez

Goals: 1:0 Takahara (2.), 2:0 Schlicke (33.), 3:0 Mahdavika (45.), 4:0 Meier (80.), 4:1 Nunez (82.), 4:2 Bühler (85.)
