Luisão is back!

Brazilian international central defender Luisão has been called up to the Benfica squad for Sunday’s game against Paços de Ferreira, following a prolonging absence due to injury.

Two months after, and Luisão is back. Following an ankle injury suffered in the Superliga clash against Nacional de Montevideo, and a dental health risk found soon after, Luisão has recovered and may play this weekend.

The 22-year-old, who is Benfica’s newest signing, is not expected to start, but will likely get some playing time to rediscover his form that won him international praise. Once the “giant” is back to full form, expect him to be alongside Rocha, with coming Fyssas on the left, which is looking to be a great back four.

The remaining injured squad members (Nuno Gomes, Mantorras, Geovanni, Petit, Carlitos and Armando) have not been called up for the match.
