HSV still hopeful of landing Belgian

HSV can still afford to hope that they can finally land the Belgian international Daniel van Buyten, who is currently on loan to Manchester City from the French giants Olympique Marseille. The player himself has asked for time to consider his options. He has had offers from England and Italy as well as HSV.

Mpenza urging him to sign!

Van Buyten has recently admitted to being "pestered" by his good friend Emile Mpenza to join HSV just like he did recently! Both players are good mates as they have played together for Belgium. He also admitted that the city, the stadium and of course Mpenza, could work in HSV's favour. Marseille has said that van Buyten will never play for them again. As usual, the sticking point on the deal is money.

Lauth deal

Another player on Klaus Toppmöller's shopping list is the 1860 Munich German international striker Benny Lauth. The Munich blues, who were relegated to division two at the end of last season, are reported to be demanding at least four million Euros for their prize asset, a figure that HSV is very unlikely to be able to meet. The van Buyten deal has top priority at the Hamburg club.
