Bota's new signings

Former Botafogo and Brazil player in the early 90's, Mauro Galvão is as of today the new coah for the Alvinegros. Galvão was in the Botafogo team that won the Brazilian Championship in 1989 with no defeats. He also won the Copa America 1990 and played in the World Cup in Italy, for the national team, as a defender.

Mauro Galvão's task is to take Botafogo out of the bottom positions of the league. "The most important is to have tranquility. We have more than 40 games left, and there is still time to recover. It's like a new championship, but there has to be a stronger bond between the team and fans" he stated in the press conference.

Meanwhile Botafogo has signed former Cruzeiro striker Schwenck. The 25 yearl old left the current champions recently, and joins Bota on a free transfer. Schwenck has already played for clubs like Juventus SP, Bragantino, América and Al-Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). When he performed for Juventus, he paired in attack with Alex Alves, exactly the player he will be replacing in the team. Alex Alves will be away for at least six months, with an injury in his right knee.
