PSG 2 - 1 Marseille

A double strike from Pedro Pauleta fired Paris Saint-Germain FC to a 2-1 win against Olympique de Marseille on Sunday and lifted the capital club up into second place in Ligue 1 for only the second time this season.

A run of just one defeat in 20 league matches has seen PSG, who at one stage languished in 17th position, hurtle up the standings to within three points of leaders Olympique Lyonnais with five matches remaining. Their latest victory, the 19th of PSG's campaign, came courtesy of a Pauleta goal at the start of each half. Laurent Battles scored for the visitors a minute from time but it proved nothing more than a consolation for Marseille, who remain in sixth position.
